The GCS Approach

General Counsel Services (GCS), provides businesses the opportunity to manage legal risk more cost-effectively. GCS provides affordable and accessible experienced in-house counsel on a part-time, as needed basis to those companies who either cannot justify full-time, in-house counsel or prefer to keep senior level positions at a minimum. We also supplement one person law departments, which we know from personal experience can get overwhelmed by competing demands from the client company.  Key to being able to provide cost effective legal services is to get to know your business.  GCS addresses this need by actually working within your company and becoming your company’s “law department.”  Your GCS counsel will “office” in your facility, if possible, at an agreed upon schedule and will be available to meet with you and your key team members at your convenience.  By integrating counsel into your organization, GCS learns about your products and services and how your business operates and is then better able to assess your needs for legal assistance.  As we learn your business, we can work with you and your staff to establish systematic approaches to addressing your most frequently occurring legal requirements.  At the same time, GCS counsel can review your past legal issues, identify where your company may be legally vulnerable and develop compliance policies, programs and guidance to meet those needs and minimize legal risk.  This preventive approach to maintaining compliance provides benefits not only by reducing legal bills but by helping to create a corporate culture of compliance.
